SoulRaye is based out of San Diego and New York. Michael Raye’s impressive debut began at age seven with his first piano recital. At fourteen, he played cello at Carnegie Hall with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of New York. Composition in his early teen years soon followed. Michael graduated from Ithaca College with a BFA in music and continued his education in advanced music composition at Indiana University. As a musical director and conductor he has worked with such artists as: Gloria Gaynor, Deniece Williams, Suzette Charles, Bessye Scott, Keith David and Little Anthony and the Imperials. As a musician, he has toured extensively both nationally and internationally with an impressive array of artists including: Daryl Hall, Will Downing, Michael Bolton, Tom Browne, Suzette Charles, Deniece Williams, Phyllis Hyman and Gloria Gaynor. He has recorded with Richie Havens, John Blake and Will Downing among others. Michael has performed on Broadway in ‘Bring in the Noise, Bring in the Funk’ and ‘It’s So Nice to be Civilized.’ He has composed for film, television, industrials and corporate exhibits in the United States, Europe and Canada. Michael has been the recipient of several grants and has been commissioned by several Modern and Ballet Dance companies for his original compositions. These companies include: David Parsons Dance Company, National Ballet of Canada, Ballet Met, Michael Mao, and Carolyn Dorfman. As a solo artist, he has recorded, arranged, produced and released two singles on Menu Records entitled ‘No Love Intended’ and ‘Black and White.’ His debut CD ‘Due Lights’ was released on his own label HotLance Records and ‘Mystic Gypsies’ and the most recent CD “Underground Soul” are all available at Television performances have included: Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Friday Night Videos, Good Morning America, CBS Good Day America, The Rosie O’Donnell Show and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and The Florence Henderson Show. For ABC Television, he acted in the movie ‘Double Platinum’ starring Diana Ross and Brandy. Other projects include: Michael Bolton’s music video montage and infomercial for his CD ‘Vintage.’ Michael was recently honored with an award from the late spiritual guru & teacher Sri Chinmoy entitled ‘Lifting the world with a oneness heart’ for his song ‘Beyond the Realm of Time.’

Kristen Gray began performing professionally at age eleven in musical theatre. At 18, she took a leave of absence from the Fine Arts program at Carnegie Mellon University and made her Broadway debut in a co-starring role in Tom O’Horgan’s Rock-Opera “Senator Joe” at the Neil Simon Theatre. On Television, she has performed on the series “Big Apple”, “The Late Show” with David Letterman, Fox 5 san diego news show & KUSI San Diego, and on MTV, VH1 and BET in several music videos. She has recorded and/or performed with a virtual who’s who in the music business including: Bootsy Collins,Dave Stewart (of The Eurythmics), Mick Jagger,George Clinton(of P-Funk),Lucky Peterson,Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Buckethead, Bill Laswell, Ric Ocasek, Tommy Shaw,and Lou Reed among others. As a solo artist her dance single “Mighty Love” was released on Azuli Records. Recently she has been collaborating with Michael Raye in the studio on a new as yet untitled ambient-funk CD. SoulRaye’s previous CDs include “Mystic Gypsies” and their newest CD “Underground Soul” both recorded at their recording studio “House of Vibe Studios based in NYC and CA. Other upcoming projects include filming a pilot for a new TV show, recording a new children’s CD entitled “Big Sky Lullabyes” inspired by the magical birth of Sky-Sierra Raye, as well as writing and recording songs for the upcoming documentary film “The Shift.” After living in Vegas, Los Angeles, SanDiego and Mexico for a many years Kristen has returned with her family back to New York City and currently resides there.
